Social Media

I remember when I was 5 or 6 years old and we did not have a computer in our house. No one really knew what the internet was back then either. Now, if someone does not have access to a computer, they might as well not exist. Social media has taken over the web today. Everyone who is anyone is on at least one social media site. A lot of business people who are older still do not use social media sites to boost their business and sales because they do not know what to do. Some hire young PR people to help them out with that problem. If I had to convince someone who does not use social media sites, I would explain how much it could improve their business. By using social media, a business is putting its name out there on the web for everyone to see. It is proven that businesses prosper more if they are using social media sites. It’s 2012, and the internet is only going to get bigger in the future, so why not go with the flow and become apart of it?

90’s on Nick

If I had the power to bring back any childhood show, it wouldn’t be a show, it would be a whole channel. I absolutely loved Nickelodeon when I was growing up. Rugrats, Doug, All That, Rocket Power, Ren and Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, and many other shows were the foundation to my childhood. Some of these shows now come on Netflix, but watching them 15 years later has a completely different effect. Now that I am older, I realize some of the hidden adult humor behind some of the episodes. All That now comes on late at night on The N, but only certain people get that channel. I wish they would have a whole entire channel that only showed 90’s shows, including from other channels like Fox Family (now ABC Family), MTV, and Disney. The number one show on Disney I wish they would bring back is Even Stephens. That was always a great show with fun family entertainment.

Favorite Place in the ‘Boro

If an out of town family member or friend came to Statesboro and wanted me to show them my favorite places, I would probably get excited. I have a lot of favorite places, but my top 3 favorite places in Statesboro are places I visit very often.

1) 119 Chops. I work here so I am there at least 3 or 4 times a week. I even go all the time when I am not working. I just love the environment and the food. I always like to meet my friends up there and eat/drink. I would admit, the food and drinks are a little pricey, but it is totally worth it.

2) Mill Creek Park. I love being outdoors and Mill Creek is one of the best parks I have ever seen in my life. I love to go there and fly kites, picnic, and play tennis. It is an all around relaxing place and a great way to spend your time. It’s also pretty fun to bring my Eno (hammock) out there and read a book on a nice day.

3) Gnat’s Landing. This is the best happy hour place in the ‘Boro in my opinion. The drinks are cheap, the atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the memories are priceless. I go to Gnats at least twice a week. Every week. I know a lot of the employees up there as well so it is always nice to see them.

Freshmen again?

The question of the week asked was, “If I was an incoming freshmen again, would I change anything?”

The answer to this question is no. Well, except for a few of the guys I dated, but other than that I am perfectly happy with everything I have done with my college career. I’m one of those people who has NO regrets in life and honestly believe I am where I am today from the actions I took and didn’t take. So many people say “Oh, I wish I could go back to being a freshmen again.” But I really don’t. I worked so hard to get where I am today and I would not do anything to change that.

On the other hand, I do wish I would have more more involved in study abroad. I went to Costa Rica my junior year, but I wish I could have done it every single year. That has been the best experience of my college career so far.

PR Books

Out of the books listed, I have only read 2 of them. I read the entire Hunger Games series in a week. It was the best series I have ever read in my entire life and I would highly recommend them to everyone. The other book I read was “Are you there Vodka? Its me Chelsea”. That was also a very good book, but in a different way. It was really funny because Chelsea Handler wrote it.
